Christopher Alan Hirschler

Christopher Alan Hirschler, of Sheffield Village, Ohio, is the dean of the Health and Wellness Sciences Division at Lorain County Community College, in Elyria, Ohio. Hirschler became the full-time, permanent dean in July 2022 and is passionate about student success and encouraging alums to give back to their institution. He has been involved in alum activities at various institutions and is excited to help Excelsior University’s Alumni Leadership Council achieve its goals. Hirschler serves on several boards and is a member of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. He is the author of various publications, including the journal articles “Risky Business: Home Sweet Home or Nursing Home?,” “What Pushed Me over the Edge Was a Deer Hunter”: Being Vegan in North America,” “and “Nursing Homes: Good Intentions, Sad Realities.” He co-authored the article “Perceptions of Childhood Obesity in Parents of Preschool-Aged Children.” In addition to his 1998 Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior University (then Regents College), he earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from SUNY Brockport and a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Education from Cleveland State University.
