Melissa Chim

Melissa Chim is the scholarly communications librarian at Excelsior University. She holds an MLIS from St. John’s University and an MA in History from Queen Mary, the University of London. As an advocate for open education, she serves on the Open Education Network’s Pub101 Committee and is completing their certificate in open education librarianship. She also serves as a leader in the ACRL History Librarians Interest Group and Teaching Primary Sources Collective. Melissa was named a SPARC Open Education Leadership Fellow in 2022, and a Society for Scholarly Publishing Fellow in 2024. In addition to authoring many articles and book chapters, she is the co-author of “Living Archives: A History of the Center for Christian Spirituality” and is currently co-authoring an information literacy textbook for adult learners. Her research interests include open access publishing, institutional repositories, and teaching with primary sources.
