Pay Less Tuition
Military spouses, domestic partners and dependents receive discounted tuition and are eligible for scholarships opportunities. To receive the military family tuition benefit, verification of spouse or dependent status to an active military servicemember is required.
To receive the military tuition benefit, military family members need to submit documentation as outlined below. Submit your documentation by fax at 518-464-8833 or by email at application@excelsior.edu. Updated documentation will be required periodically to confirm continued eligibility.
Spouses may provide one of the following to confirm eligibility for the military rate:
- A copy of the spouse’s DEERS Form 1172-2
- A copy of the spouse’s marriage license and a copy of the servicemember’s most recent Leave and Earnings Statement.
Dependents must provide the following to confirm eligibility for the military rate:
- A copy of the individual’s DEERS Form 1172-2

How to Get Started
You will need to submit the following documents as applicable. Select the links below for more information and instructions for requesting these documents:
Have all official transcripts, proficiency tests, and other documents sent directly to Excelsior from your previous college or university, a testing agency, or an education office. Have them sent to:

Speak with your counselor to find out which programs will support your career goals and make the most of your transfer credits, training, and prior learning.
Complete the application.
Once we have received your application and transcripts, we will provide you with an official evaluation of your degree plan. You can then complete your enrollment agreement (login required) and work with your counselor to get registered for your first course.
After choosing a course with your counselor, complete a TA application through your branch of service and register through Excelsior by using our tuition assistance process.
