Submission of Incoming Official Credit Bearing Documentation
Official Transcripts and Letters of Verification: The primary method for submitting credit for review toward a program at Excelsior University is an official transcript or official letter of verification sent from an eligible credit source, verified as official by the Incoming Transcript team in the Office of the Registrar. Official transcripts are transcripts the college, foreign transcript evaluation agency, testing agency, learning experience host, or acceptable military source submitted directly to the Excelsior University Office of the Registrar. Unofficial or student copies of transcripts or letters of verification are not acceptable and will be returned to the sender by the incoming transcript staff. Transcripts and letters of verification must include the institution’s official seal and/or signature, two forms of student identification, and an issuance date within three weeks. Excelsior may accept documentation from accredited institutions which do not transcript credit for non-matriculated students under the following circumstances:
- the credit awarded is college level
- the university would transcript the credit if the student were matriculated
- the document received meets the test for validity
Certificates and Licenses: Excelsior will identify when a learning experience can be submitted through a student copy of a credential (certificates and licenses), a badge or letter of verification for learning experiences evaluated by Excelsior or NCCRS in lieu of an official transcript. Student copies of credentials (certificates and licenses) are only an option if the learning experience host provides a verification website containing sufficient data to confirm successful completion of the experience.
