Excelsior University’s Writing Center provides writing support across all degree programs as students make their way through their academic journey. The Excelsior Online Writing Lab (OWL) features free online writing lessons and information for learners at all levels. The Online Reading Comprehension Lab (ORC) offers support in reading skills that directly impact writing. Students can also seek one-on-one writing support or get feedback on written work through our online tutoring provider, Brainfuse.

The OWL is unique in its multimedia support for writers. It provides students with a warm, engaging experience along with a wide variety of interactive activities, quizzes, videos, and PDFs — all designed to help understand important concepts about writing.

screenshot of Brainfuse dashboardThe University partners with Brainfuse Online Tutoring to provide both live and asynchronous tutoring for all Excelsior students. Brainfuse is an online tutoring platform that allows students to connect with a live tutor 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Tutors may help with specific assignments or guide students toward mastering underlying academic concepts. Students can submit papers to an asynchronous writing expert for feedback within 24 hours, or engage in live one-on-one writing assistance with a Brainfuse tutor. Students can access Brainfuse through the Canvas learning portal.
